IITPSA/EngineerIT Distinguished Service in ICT Award Nominations announced

The ITPSA/EngineerIT Distinguished Service Awards honour the trailblazers who have made an impact on the Information and Communications Technology sector through their dedication, forward-thinking and changemaking track records.

This year's distinguished nominees are:

Nomination: John Singh — IITPSA/EngineerIT Distinguished Service in ICT Award

John Singh has rendered distinguished and sustained service to the IITPSA and the broader ICT community through visionary leadership, governance, and industry engagement. As current Vice President of the IITPSA Board and Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee, he has guided strategic modernisation of the Institute’s governance processes and championed innovation through his founding leadership of the Blockchain and Crypto Special Interest Group. With over 25 years in ICT systems analysis and community outreach, John has consistently embodied professionalism, mentorship, and a deep commitment to the Institute’s values. His contribution represents the calibre of service and influence that merits recognition through the Distinguished Service in ICT Award — and concurrent Fellowship of the IITPSA.

Nomination: Senele Goba — IITPSA / EngineerIT Distinguished Service in ICT (or Fellowship of the IITPSA)

Since joining the IITPSA, Senele Goba has rapidly become a transformative force in the Institute and the broader ICT sector. She was elected to the Board in 2020, went on to serve as Vice President, and in 2023, was elected President and Board Chairperson. Her leadership is complemented by her deep commitment to STEM education and youth development: via her role as Director of 4IR Innovations and founder of the Ososayensi Educa on Advancement NPC, she has spearheaded initiatives to bring computing, robotics and coding to under-resourced communities. Her election, impact, and visible service reflect the qualities of a role model, mentor and advocate for ICT in South Africa.

The EngineerIT team congratulates John and Sanele on being recognised for the true leaders they are, and wishes them both many more successes to come.
