It’s not because the tech’s useless. It’s because the logic was trained to keep things calm, not tell the truth.

Somewhere along the line, “don’t alarm the user” became more important than “let the user see clearly.”

The human cost of digital denial

  • Interrogate your thresholds. Don’t trust the green light blindly. Ask who defined “normal”—and when.
  • Make space for unknowns. If the system doesn’t know, it should say so. Silence isn’t stability.
  • Keep the human in the loop. Augment decisions with experience on the ground. Sensors miss things. People feel patterns.
  • Don’t bury the logs. Make fault data readable. You can’t fix what you can’t trace.
  • Train your team to challenge the screen. Dashboards are not divine. Critical thinking isn’t a risk—it’s a requirement.
